How To Spot a Fake Redtop

11 July 2018

As the popularity of Redtop Fly Traps increases, so has the market for fake copies. Websites such as Amazon and eBay in particular are becoming saturated with cheap, counterfeit copies. When purchasing your Redtop, please consider the following points:

  • Fakes are usually much cheaper than a genuine Redtop BUT not nearly as effective! So if the price sounds too good to be true, it probably is

  • The key to the Redtop working is in the bait - genuine Redtops use a special, tried and tested formulation. Fake copies are not able to replicate this formulation - seriously affecting the end result

  • Most are illegal as they do not meet basic trading standards requirements

  • No customer service - when you have a problem with them, don’t expect to be able to contact anyone or get a refund

  • Be especially vigilant on websites such as Amazon & eBay where people are using ‘Redtop’ in the description of fake copies
